Corribee Technical Section - SAILS

Barry Stanage writes

Hi Kathleen and anybody else out there.
I am trying to find the best and cheapest supplier of replacement sails (mainsail, cruising chute and roller reefing genoa). All of the quotations that I have received so far have been for different sail areas as well as different grades of cloth. The quotations so far for the genoa have been for areas between 90 and 130 sq ft.
Any assistance that I receive (including good 2nd hand stuff) would be most welcome.
Hoping to hear from either the Association or any Corribee sailors with any ideas as soon as possible as this is about the best time to buy (unless Santa can help)
All the best to everyone for a merry Christmas and a very happy New Year. May the winds blow favourably for you all in 2001.

I got two new sails from Arun, who as most of you know were the original equipment supplier to Newbridge. They aren't the cheapest by any means, but the cut of their main is excellent and i never got to see how the Chute set. The best quote I had for a R/R Genoa was from Seateach, but it really is a matter of personal preference There never was a standard Genoa because the boat was designed to have a working jib and no1, which I still had on wild goose. Personally I'm prepared to pay the extra for tri-radial cut because you don't get that horrible sag in the mid-reef that affects all R/R sails, notably in their middle age.
